1. Executive Summary

Verdant Labs is a Web3 cultivation collectible game built on the Polygon blockchain. It centers on two NFT types — Fertilizer NFTs (consumable items) and Land NFTs (persistent assets) — that interact through a simple cultivation loop. The game intentionally adopts a minimal mechanics design and emphasizes collection, ownership, and open-market trading rather than play-to-earn tokenomics.

Key Characteristics

Aspect Description
Blockchain Polygon (low fees, high NFT compatibility)
NFT Standard ERC-1155
Tokens None. No cryptocurrency, in-game currency, or points system is issued
Pay-to-Earn None. Value comes from collection and open-market trading
Marketplace OpenSea and other Polygon-compatible secondary markets
Premium Feature Automated cultivation for Land NFT holders
Issuer the Issuer (BVI)
Operator the Operator (Singapore)

Why It Matters

The Web3 gaming space is saturated with token-emitting "play-to-earn" games that frequently collapse under inflationary pressure or regulatory scrutiny. Verdant Labs deliberately steps off that treadmill: no tokens to collapse, no yields to defend, no regulatory token-issuance burden. Instead, the project leans into what NFTs already do well — collectibility, ownership, and open trading.

2. Introduction & Vision

2.1 Why Now

NFT collection games are evolving. Early experiments (CryptoKitties, Axie Infinity) demonstrated the appetite for owning digital game items. Later iterations have refined the model, focusing on craft, scarcity, and visual progression. Verdant Labs is part of this matured wave.

2.2 Vision

We aim to create a relaxed, collection-driven Web3 experience where:

  • Players genuinely own their assets (on-chain, in their own wallets)
  • The game does not try to be everything — it tries to be one good thing
  • Asset value is determined by genuine collector demand, not promised yields
  • Operational privacy is respected: not every player wants to be known

2.3 Design Principles

1. Simplicity over complexity
2. Ownership over rental
3. Collection over consumption
4. Privacy over exposure
5. No promises we cannot keep

3. The Game

Verdant Labs is a cultivation game in which players acquire Land NFTs and apply Fertilizer NFTs to grow them. As fertilizers are applied, lands accumulate growth points and progress through visual stages.

3.1 Core Loop

Acquire Land NFT → Acquire Fertilizer NFTs → Apply Fertilizer → Land Grows → Hold / Trade / Showcase → repeat

3.2 What Players Do

  • Connect wallet (MetaMask, WalletConnect, Coinbase Wallet, etc.)
  • Acquire NFTs through OpenSea, secondary markets, or future drops
  • Apply fertilizers manually, or enable automated cultivation (Premium Feature)
  • Watch lands evolve through stages, gaining visual variations
  • Trade or hold based on individual collector preference

3.3 What the Game Does Not Do

  • ❌ Issue any token, cryptocurrency, or in-game currency
  • ❌ Promise any return on investment
  • ❌ Operate a "play-to-earn" yield mechanism
  • ❌ Conduct PvP combat, leaderboards with cash prizes, or pay-to-win mechanics

4. NFT Collection

4.1 Fertilizer NFTs (Consumable)

Fertilizer NFTs are consumed when applied to land. Once consumed, they are permanently burned and cannot be restored. Three rarities exist:

Rarity Maximum Supply Visual Cue
Common 1,000,000 Standard frame
Rare 100,000 Silver frame, subtle glow
Super Rare 10,000 Gold frame, particle effect

4.2 Land NFTs (Persistent)

Land NFTs are permanent. They accumulate growth points and evolve through stages but are never destroyed. Four rarities and multiple biomes:

Rarity Maximum Supply Description
Common 10,000 Standard plots
Rare 1,000 Special locations
Super Rare 100 Distinctive biomes
Legendary 10 Unique landmarks

Biomes: Plain, Forest, Desert, Snow, Coastal, Mountain, Volcanic, Mystic, Sky, Sanctuary.

4.3 Rarity & Distribution

The total supply of each rarity tier is fixed at deployment by smart contract Mint Cap. No new units beyond Mint Cap can ever be minted, ensuring scarcity is preserved.

4.4 Trading

All Verdant Labs NFTs are standard ERC-1155 tokens on Polygon and are tradeable on:

  • OpenSea (primary marketplace)
  • Magic Eden (Polygon section)
  • Any wallet-to-wallet OTC transfer

Royalty: 5% on secondary sales (configurable, paid to issuer).

5. Game Mechanics

5.1 Cultivation

Each fertilizer applied to a land contributes growth points to that land. As growth points accumulate, the land progresses through visual stages.

Stage 0 (Bare) 0 GP
Stage 1 (Sprouting) 100 GP
Stage 2 (Growing) 500 GP
Stage 3 (Mature) 2000 GP
Stage 4 (Flourishing) 5000 GP
Stage 5 (Legendary) 10000 GP

Each fertilizer rarity contributes different growth points:

  • Common: 1 GP
  • Rare: 5 GP
  • Super Rare: 20 GP

Stage information is reflected in the NFT metadata, visible on OpenSea and other marketplaces.

Growth points and stages are visual and collectible attributes only; they do not alter the function of, or the rights attached to, any Land NFT.

5.2 Manual Application

Free tier players (those with only fertilizers, no land) can manually combine fertilizers visually but cannot retain growth points. Players with at least one Land NFT can apply fertilizers to that land via the game interface.

5.3 Automated Cultivation (Premium)

Land NFT holders gain access to automated cultivation:

Every day, an automated scheduler identifies land holders, checks for fertilizers in the same wallet, and — if available — burns one fertilizer and updates the land's growth points.

Holders can enable or disable automated cultivation at any time by managing smart contract approvals.

6. Premium Features for Land Holders

Owning a Land NFT grants access to:

Feature Description
Automated Cultivation Daily auto-application of fertilizers in same wallet
Priority Support Direct support channel
Showcase Listing Featured on platform leaderboard
Future Drops Eligibility for limited collaborations and seasonal releases

These features are provided as a convenience benefit of land ownership and may be modified, suspended, or terminated at the operator's discretion in accordance with the Terms of Service.

8. No Tokens, No Yields — How Value Works

Verdant Labs deliberately does not issue any token, currency, or yield-bearing instrument. This is a feature, not a limitation.

8.1 What Drives NFT Value

NFT prices in Verdant Labs are determined entirely by:

  • Scarcity: Each rarity tier has fixed Mint Cap
  • Demand: Genuine collector interest on open markets
  • Visual progression: Cultivated lands gain stage variations
  • Cultural moments: Seasonal drops, collaborations, community sentiment

8.2 What Does Not Drive NFT Value

  • ❌ Token emission promises
  • ❌ Yield expectations
  • ❌ Buyback or redemption guarantees
  • ❌ Centrally managed price floors

8.3 Why This Matters

Token-emitting games tend to collapse when token inflation outpaces demand. Yield-promising games face regulatory scrutiny. Verdant Labs avoids both pitfalls by simply not creating these obligations. Value either exists from collector demand, or it does not. We make no other promises.

9. Roadmap

Phase Timeline Milestones
Phase 1: Foundation 2026 May NFT smart contract deployment on Polygon, initial mint
Phase 2: Launch 2026 Jun-Jul Game beta, OpenSea collection listing
Phase 3: Features 2026 Aug Automated cultivation, multi-language UI
Phase 4: Growth 2026 Sep-Q4 Free airdrop, community building

Roadmap items are aspirational and subject to change without notice.

10. Team & Operations

Verdant Labs is operated by a small, distributed team based primarily in Singapore.

We have chosen to maintain operational privacy at this stage to focus on building rather than self-promotion. As the project matures, additional public presence may be added.

Operating Structure

  • Issuer: a BVI Business Company (British Virgin Islands). Issues and holds the NFT smart contracts.
  • Operator: a Singapore-based entity. Operates the game, customer support, and community.

11. Risks

By participating in Verdant Labs, holders accept and assume the following risks. This list is not exhaustive.

11.1 Regulatory Risks

  • NFT regulations are evolving in many jurisdictions

  • Liquidity may be limited or disappear
  • Floor prices may fall to zero

11.4 Operational Risks

  • The game may be modified, suspended, or terminated
  • Premium features may be discontinued
  • Customer support response times are not guaranteed

11.5 Wallet Management Risks
